    Cass County Conservation is located in southwest Iowa and is home to the 1856 Hitchcock House - listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Cass CCB manages 13 individual parks, wildlife areas, historic sites and refuges encompassing some 588 acres about the county. The Hitchcock House was built by Rev. George B. Hitchcock. The Hitchcock House played a major role in moving freedom seekers to Canada prior to the Civil War. The house has been accepted as a site on the National Park Service Underground Railroad Network to Freedom, and is a National Historic Landmark. The Hitchcock House is located in the Hitchcock Recreation Area.
